BLOOMING VIOLET

Chadleigh (3pm – 5pm)
2371 Limberlost Road, Lake of Bays, ON
With the homeland under German fire and the mortal coil wound tight, the true story of Violet Macdonald is revealed. It tells of how this young woman from north east Yorkshire rises up from the strife of daily life, to find her way to a place that she never believed possible. Violet’s story is not so much about an extraordinary life, but of an ordinary, working-class, Yorkshire-woman experiencing extraordinary times from 1916-1952.
What is a STAGED READING?
A staged reading is a simplified form of theatre that is read by actors with scripts in hand in front of an audience. It is a means of exploring a piece of theatre without being a fully-realized production, where the emphasis is on hearing the text instead of seeing it. The actors will stand in fixed positions and perform their characters with gusto. There are no technical elements such as props, costumes, or lighting, but someone reads the stage directions aloud to give the audience the context for each scene.
This staged reading of Blooming Violet will take place in the covered-screened-in gazebo at 2371 Limberlost Road. Bring your own portable chair & beverage. Seating is limited. Access to the property is 2:30.
Email DOTTHET@YAHOO.COM to reserve your spot.
11 Characters will be read by 4 actors: Jodie Auckland, Andy Bartle, Steven Jacklin and Jan Jacklin
This event is FREE, however there will be a ‘tip’ jar for the actors and a request to complete feedback, suggestions or Review.
If you are unable to attend, but are interested in this story, you can purchase the hardcover script from AMAZON.
For performing theatre groups, a digital script is available through The Playwrights’ Guild of Canada.
